The Battle of Pareo Rock tells the story of Jimmy, an 11-year old European boy who goes to Africa with his mother, a busy executive charged with establishing a golf resort. One day Jimmy gets lost in the town market where he encounters a mysterious speaking giraffe named Seraf. Seraf tells Jimmy about the war situation between rival indigenous tribes fighting over the land. Seraf tells Jimmy that he cannot easily avoid this tribal battle. Together with Charita, a poor African girl, Jimmy embarks on an adventurous and magical trip through the African jungle, where they must overcome many obstacles. Fortunately they have help, not only from Seraf, but also from a precious medallion. Throughout their trip, they discover that they can only achieve their goal if they truly believe in themselves and dont let anybody or anything get in their way.

"De ster Vega staat op 25 lichtjaar van de aarde. Dit betekent dat het licht er 25 jaar over doet om ons te bereiken en de ster die wij nu aan de hemel zien een beeltenis is van Vega uit het jaar 1981. Dit ongelooflijke kosmische feit was de inspiratiebron voor de compositie To Vega and Back, geschreven in opdracht van het Gelders Fanfareorkest. Het stuk beschrijft een reis naar de ster Vega en terug en voert de luisteraar door verschillende stadia: de triomfantelijke lancering, de schijnbare leegte van de ruimte, de versnelling, de aankomst bij Vega, de gevaarlijke hindernissen onderweg en uiteindelijk... de terugkomst op planeet aarde."
